Agreed. Natalie and Chima are two nasty girls. This season seemed to have a higher percentage of stupid people than usual.

Kevin (the gay guy) is an ex-JW, who was df'ed nine years ago when he met his boyfriend at a district convention. When he won HOH, the reason he didn't have any baby pictures in his room was because his parents wouldn't give any to CBS.
I still want Jordan to win ;-)

"Well, for one thing - it sure does seem to me that we really diminish the day by calling it the "National Day of Service"..."

"I burned a candle today for all who suffered great losses that day.
In a way, I guess that means everyone."
Nicely put. I'll burn one, too.

Deputy Dog, thank you for your service. Have you experienced any of the health side effects that so many of the 9/11 rescuers have?
My daughter (who was 9 at the time) and I were on vacation in New York City that day. They were replaying news reports on the radio as I drove to work this morning and I lost it. I can't how imagine how the people whose loved ones died that day are feeling.
We had planned to take the subway to the World Trade Center early that morning and then go to the Statue of Liberty from there. I wanted my daughter to see the vast underground system beneath the WTC. I remember being fascinated when I was a kid that you could shop underground. We ended up sleeping late that morning. We were staying in a hostel at W. 30th and 8th Ave. and had the windows open. I remember hearing the first plane hit and reaching up from my bed to pull back the curtains and look at the sky because I thought it was thunder. Then the sirens started. There are always sirens in New York but this was different.
My daughter called me out of the shower a few minutes later, saying "I think you're gonna want to see this." She thought it was a movie and freaked out when I fell down crying. It's scary when you scare your kid. So I pulled my shit together and tried to explain it to her in a way that made her feel safe but aware. We spent the rest of the day searching for pay phones that would work so we could tell her dad in Texas that we were okay.
Most surreal moments over the next several days (we couldn't go home due to no air traffic): fighter jets blasting overhead and people literally falling down on the street and ducking into doorways, standing outside CBS watching the news on a huge screen while "It's a Small World" played from the FAO Schwarz speakers next door, covering my daughter's eyes and running away when they showed the jumpers, vendors in Central Park hawking pencil drawings of the WTC, hanging onto my kid for dear life in the middle of human stampedes after bomb threats were called in. This happened while at breakfast the next morning and twice at Penn Station while trying to buy bus tickets. I still feel bad about not going back to pay the check for our uneaten food. Little known fact: around 90 bomb threats were called in on the days immediately following 9/11.
On the 48 hr. Greyhound bus ride home, my daughter mutilated a Slinky and said it was an art installation called "Bad Day for Slinky." I will keep it forever.
To the people who lost their lives that day and to their families and loved ones:

Instead of snapping the ball to the quarterback, the center snaps it to the running back who then either runs with it or sometimes throws a pass.

Please nominate your favourite film and say why you rate it so highly.
by lifelong humanist ini've just watched all 3 parts of francis ford coppola's epic godfather once again.
it is a superb achievement on many levels.
each viewing reveals something new and fresh.. i recall, as a good jw at the time, not seeing it when released as it was not certified as 'suitable' given the content for jws.

"I have a hundred favourite movies. Today I'm picking American Beauty and Fight Club, because of how startling they both were."
Well, now those would both be in my top 20. I had my first and only panic attack after seeing "Fight Club." I attribute it to the subliminal messages ;-)

How is it possible to have a favorite movie? Top 10 (or 50) possibly, but wouldn't it constantly change?
Six said: "...and I'm glad Nath reminded me to put Virgin Suicides on my list to see; I remember hearing how good it was when it came out, but I never got around to seeing it."
Lux Lisbon is the best character name ever. I adopted it for the name of my imaginary friend.

"I think it's that older women are less apt to believe bs. "
Which is why they don't date you.
I've gone out with men 20 years older than me to 13 years younger. It's irrelevant if you have a connection (and they're of age to make an informed decision).
And the fact that you don't like beer or football are your shortcomings, not hers. I think you should go for it.
